ATLANTA - Iowa State junior forward Craig Brackins received yet another preseason honor, making the Naismith Trophy preseason watch list.
The watch list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors, which based its criteria on player performances from the previous year and expectations for the 2009-10 college basketball season.
Brackins, a native of Palmdale, Calif., is one of eight Big 12 players to appear on the 50-player list (Cole Aldrich, Kansas; James Anderson, Oklahoma State; Avery Bradley, Texas; Sherron Collins, Kansas; Xavier Henry, Kansas; Damion James, Texas; Willie Warren, Oklahoma).
Brackins, who has been named to numerous preseason All-America teams, was also a preseason candidate for the Wooden Award. Brackins is back as the nation’s fourth-best returning scorer after averaging 20.2 points and 9.5 rebounds last season.
