Cyclones Slaying Ranked Foes
After dropping the first three matches this season to ranked opponents, ISU has been on a roll winning the last four against ranked teams. Two of the victories, against then-No. 5 Nebraska and No. 2 Texas, marked ISU’s top wins over ranked opponents. The Cyclones beat Baylor and Texas A&M for the other wins.
Hockaday Steps Up In Big Way
In ISU’s wins over Nebraska and Texas, Hockaday has averaged 3.10 kills and 3.60 digs per set. While her kills have been slightly down, her digs have been up and she has hit .225 in the matches, which is higher than her season average of .204.
In the fifth set against the Huskers and Horns, Hockaday has eight total kills and hit .500.
First Since 2003
Iowa State is the first team since 2003 to beat both Texas and Nebraska in the same season. In 2003, Kansas State, Missouri and UCLA accomplished the rare feat.
