AMES, Iowa – Iowa State student-athletes have posted a federal graduation rate of 79 percent, according to the figures released Wednesday by the NCAA. That figure exceeds the all-student ISU graduation rate of 67 percent. It is also the highest student-athlete graduation rate among Big 12 schools and 20 points higher than the conference average.
“This is a great accomplishment by our student-athletes,” ISU assistant athletics director for academic services Tommy Powell said. “The achievement is made possible by an unwavering commitment to academics from the athletics administration, the commitment from our coaches to recruit and retain talented students, and the great support of university faculty, staff and administration.”
The 79 percent student-athlete graduation rate is ISU’s highest figure since the NCAA began compiling this data in 1992-93. It also marks the second time the Cyclone student-athlete graduation rate exceeded that of the total student body in the last four years.
