Donor Profile: Greg Brandt
AMES, Iowa - An Iowa State alumnus since 1980, and despite being a graduate of University of Iowa College of Dentistry, Dr. Greg Brandt has been an avid follower of ISU Athletics since the late 1960s and a member of the Cyclone Club since 1990. Since his days in junior high and high school, Brandt loves to see the Cyclones succeed and uses his Cyclone Club donation to offer his continued support.
"The way the Iowa State coaches and student-athletes present themselves makes the fans proud," Brandt said. "I know some of them personally, and it makes me proud to call them friends and acquaintances."
Brandt, along with his wife, Julie, a dental hygienist, own Advanced Family Dentistry in Ankeny. They make frequent trips to the Iowa State campus for football and wrestling events. The Brandts hold Jack Trice Club seats and MatCYd seats and enjoy seeing ISU coaches and players come through during the matches.
Having been a fan of the Cyclones for so long, Brandt has many memories that stand out in his mind. Those moments range from seeing Dan Gable wrestle for Iowa State in the late 1960s to seeing current head wrestling coach Kevin Jackson lead the team into the current 2009-2010 season. His favorite matches to watch, though, are those in which Iowa State defeats Nebraska in any sport.
"I think that the Iowa State wrestling program is the best in the country, and I would like to see them be able to continue that status in the future," said Dr. Brandt.
The Brandts are helping shape the future of Iowa State Athletics through their commitment to the Cyclone Club. As the costs of scholarships and resources to maintain and improve the athletics department continue to escalate, so does the need to strengthen support in the Cyclone Club.
