Diane Vetter was a key performer in Iowa State's dominance in track & field/cross country from 1977-81, earning All-America honors four times and winning seven Big Eight titles. The Chardon, Ohio, native, who was at her best in the distance events, helped Iowa State win seven Big Eight team championships (track & field/cross country) and two AIAW National titles in cross country. She won the Big Eight's Indoor 1,000-yard titles all four seasons (1978-81), the only competitor in Big Eight history to win the event four times.
