AMES, Iowa - The premier volleyball rivalry in the Big 12 comes to Hilton Coliseum on Wednesday night when the No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones host the No. 1 Texas Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. The match will double as Senior Night with Cyclone seniors Kristen Hahn and Tenisha Matlock being honored after the match.

The match will be televised live on Cyclones.TV Powered by Mediacom and on the Cyclones.TV web player. Live stats are available, and cyclones.com will host a live blog.

  • The Big 12’s premier rivalry of Big 12 volleyball will be renewed Wednesday when No. 25 Iowa State hosts No. 1 Texas at 6:30 p.m. inside Hilton Coliseum.
  • The match will serve as Senior Night as Kristen Hahn and Tenisha Matlock play their final match in Hilton Coliseum. The duo has a record of 33-7 while playing in Hilton Coliseum.
  • The Cyclones are coming off a five-set win at TCU Saturday which saw the Cyclones have five players in double-figures for kills and five for digs with two double-doubles in there.
  • Morgan Kuhrt came off the bench to spark the Cyclone attack with a career-high 15 kills at a .364 hitting percentage. She also had six digs and a career-high three service aces, two coming in the fifth set.
  • Mackenzie Bigbee had a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs as did Jenelle Hudson with a career-high 65 assists and 15 digs. Victoria Hurtt (16), Tenisha Matlock (14) and Tory Knuth (10) also reached double figures in kills while Kristen Hahn (28), Ciara Capezio (14) and Caitlin Nolan (14) were in double figures for digs.
  • Kristen Hahn continues to be one of the best liberos in the coutnry. The senior leads the Big 12 and is ranked fourth nationally with 5.77 digs per set.
  • Hahn has won the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week Award five times this season and a record 17 times in her career.
  • Iowa State has been one of the best serving teams in the country. The Cyclones, as they have for the entirety of the 2013 season, lead the Big 12 in service aces per set (1.71 per set) and are the leaders in total aces in spite of playing the second-fewest sets in the league this year.
  • Iowa State’s serving is now garnering the attention of the NCAA rankings. Going into this week’s matches, the Cyclones rank ninth in the country in aces per set. The Big 12’s leading server, Tory Knuth, ranks 20th nationally.
  • Six of Iowa State’s seven losses have come to teams with an RPI in the top-25. Those losses were to Texas (No. 1), Nebraska (No. 8), Kansas (No. 12), San Diego (No. 15), Illinois (No. 17) and Oklahoma (No. 23). At No. 61 in the RPI, St. Mary’s is ISU’s other loss in 2013.

About No. 1 Texas

  • The nation’s No. 1 team and the 2012 NCAA Champion Texas Longhorns come to Hilton Coliseum on Wednesday with a 21-2 record, riding a 17-match winning streak.
  • The Longhorns comes into the match 14-0 in Big 12 play, looking to continue its pursuit of becoming the first Big 12 team to go undefeated in conference play since Nebraska in 2004.
  • Texas leads the conference in hitting percentage (.289), opponent hitting percentage (.174) and blocking (2.82 bps). Chiaka Ogbogu leads the Big 12 in hitting percentage (.434) and Haley Eckcerman in kills per set (4.01 kps).
  • Eckerman, a Waterloo native, gets her 4.01 kills per set at a .264 hitting percentage. She also averages 2.22 digs per set, second-best among the Longhorns, and her 0.37 aces per set is second in the Big 12 behind ISU’s Tory Knuth.
  • Bailey Webster has also been strong, averaging 3.89 kills per set at a .289 hitting percentage.
  • The Longhorns have three middles blockers over one block per set in Khat Bell (1.32 bps), Molly McCage (1.18 bps) and Chiaka Ogbogu (1.08 bps).
  • Texas leads the all-time series 33-4 and won in four sets in Austin back on Oct. 19.
  • Iowa State is the last Big 12 team to defeat Texas, defeating the Longhorns in five sets in Ames on Nov. 23, 2012.
