Iowa State Dethrones No. 22 Kansas, 3-2
The fifth set was a back-and-forth affair with ISU getting up early via three straight blocks before KU fought to get back ahead. Kansas was able to get ahead 12-11, but the Cyclones were able to close out the match on a 4-1 run with Tenisha Matlock finishing proceedings with a kill on an over pass.
Turning Point of the Match
After a back-and-forth first set, the second set was going the same way with neither team able to get much of a lead. KU was starting to position itself for a second set victory with a 17-15 lead when, on the serves of Jenelle Hudson and Kristen Hahn, Iowa State went on a 9-1 run to bring up set point. Though ISU would concede three points in a row, eventually Hudson found Mackenzie Bigbee for the kill to tie the match at 1-1 going into the break.
The third set played out almost the exact same way as KU was up 20-15 late in the third set before the Cyclones went on a 10-2 run to close out the set, finished off with a Kristen Hahn ace right at the corner of the court.

Cyclone Match Ball Goes to…
Tenisha Matlock. Middle blockers have half the time that some players do to have an impact on the match, but when Matlock was on the court, the Cyclone attack was on a different level. The senior was contributing all around the attack: on the quick-set, on the slide and even from the right-side a time or two. Most importantly, it was her kill on the overpass that ended the match in ISU’s favor.
Matlock finished the match with 18 kills at a .417 hitting percentage. She also chipped in a solo block and three block assists.
Honorable mentions to Kristen Hahn, who recorded 35 digs and the clutch service ace to close out the third set, Victoria Hurtt, who finished with 14 kills and Ciara Capezio, who had another double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
