Hillman Sixth At USA Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Iowa State junior Christina Hillman was the top collegiate finisher at today’s USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Hillman finished sixth overall in a field full of professional talent from across the nation.

The Cyclone thrower threw her best mark on her first attempt, hurling the shot 57’1.50”. The Dover, Del., native then threw marks of 56’04.50, 55’9.50” and 56’2.50 before fouling on her final two attempts.

Hillman is currently the NCAA leader in the event with a best throw of 57’5.50”, tied atop the leaderboard with Missouri’s Kearsten Peoples. In her five competitions this season, the junior has finished first four times.

The Cyclones return to the track this weekend at the Big 12 Championships, held at Iowa State’s Lied Recreation Athletic Center, Feb. 28-Mar. 1.

Shot Put: 1) Michelle Carter, Nike/NJ-NY TC, 60-6.50; 6) Christina Hillman, Iowa State, 57-1.50
