AMES, Iowa The verdict is in, and it will be announced live on cyclones.com this Wednesday (Sept. 26) at 1 p.m.
Iowa State University Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard will unveil a new football helmet, drawings of home and road uniforms and a graphics identity for the athletics department at a news conference. All elements will be implemented in 2008-09.
The question “Which one do you choose?” was posed several weeks ago in relation to a helmet / uniform design project for Iowa State football.
Three final designs were shared and the public was invited to choose its favorite. More than 35,000 online votes were cast. The department also solicited written feedback from fans about the choices and more than 1,500 individual emails were received and reviewed.
“I believe the most important message from this process is that we listened to our fan base,” Pollard said, in advance of Wednesday’s free web cast. “We felt that asking for input from our fan base was critical, unique and in this case, very helpful.”
Pollard noted that Iowa State wants to create a clear and consistent way to brand Iowa State Athletics through its team apparel, retail merchandise, in facilities and on collateral materials at a time when the department is growing dramatically and changing its culture.
