AMES, Iowa-Iowa State head men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg announced today that Jeff Rutter will remain on staff as Director of Basketball Operations.

A native of West Allis, Wis., Rutter has over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience, including the last four seasons as an assistant with the Cyclones under former head coach Greg McDermott. McDermott moved Rutter into the Director of Basketball Operations position in April and he will assume the same role on Hoiberg’s staff.

“Jeff has been invaluable in helping me get acclimated in my first week on the job,” Hoiberg said. “He is extremely organized and has an outstanding working knowledge of Iowa State and the State of Iowa. I am happy he will continue to be an important part of the ISU basketball program.”

Rutter began his coaching career as an assistant at North Dakota State in 1990 and was a head coach at Wisconsin-Parkside from 1996-2003 until teaming up with McDermott at Northern Iowa in 2003.

“I am very excited to be joining Coach Hoiberg's staff,” Rutter said. “There is a great amount of optimism surrounding our program right now, and I'm happy to be part of it.”
