AMES, Iowa – Cyclone Club members played a key role in many of last season’s unforgettable athletics moments – and now members have their own collaborative achievement. Despite the economic headwind, member contributions set an all-time fundraising mark of $6.2 million during the 2010 fiscal year which ended June 30. The previous record was $6.1 million set during the 2008 fiscal year.
“Setting an annual fund record through challenging economic times is a true testament to our Cyclone Club members’ passion and loyalty,” Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard said. “Cyclone Club members should take great pride in knowing that their investment has been the driving force in an all-time high student-athlete graduation rate and our best ever showing nationally in overall sports achievement during the 2009-2010 academic year.”
More than 30 percent of new Cyclone Club members have joined as part of the Cyclone Club’s 2010 new member referral campaign. The “Each One, Bring One” fund drive has generated more than $43,000 in new revenue since its launch in February.
ISU Associate Athletics Director for Development Joan Bowles credits the Cyclone Club’s addition of automatic payment options to make it easier than ever to support Iowa State athletics.
“Our goal is to make supporting Iowa State’s student-athletes as simple as possible for our fans,” Bowles said. “Through the new monthly payment option, donors reached a bit farther into their pocketbooks and for that, we are extremely grateful.”
While the Cyclone Club had a record-breaking year, the work is not over. Fans who are interested in taking their support to the next level should contact the Cyclone Club online at cyclub@iastate.edu or by phone at 515-294-5022.
