Ryan McKim is starting his second stint on the Iowa State football coaching staff. In February, he became the offensive graduate assistant under head coach Paul Rhoads. McKim, a native of Creston, previously worked as assistant recruiting coordinator for Rhoads (2009) and former Cyclone head coach Gene Chizik (2008).
McKim coaches the offensive line under Iowa State assistant head coach Bill Bleil. He is responsible for running the defensive scout team and creates opponent film and scouting reports. McKim assists with the offensive self scout. He also has recruiting responsibilities in Arizona.
The 2008 Iowa State summa cum laude graduate earned a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. McKim posted an undergraduate grade-point average of 3.98. He was on the Dean's List every semester of his undergraduate experience at Iowa State.
As recruiting coordinator, McKim organized and directed all on-campus recruiting visits and events. Fifteen of 16 Iowa State signees who made fall visits in 2009, committed to the Cyclones when McKim was assistant recruiting coordinator.
McKim was offensive line coach and run-game coordinator at Creston High School in 2011. At Creston, McKim coached Elite All-Star (Des Moines Register) lineman and future Cyclone Collin Bevins. The Panthers were District 1 champions in Class 3-A in 2011.
