CALGARY - Iowa State sprinter Ian Warner hit the jackpot Friday evening in Foothills Athletic Park. The Cyclone junior placed second in the Canadian Olympic Track and Field Trials 100-meters to his older brother to earn a trip to next month's London Olympic Games.

"I feel amazingly blessed," Warner said. "It's been an crazy season but I am so happy."

Warner finished second in the Canadian 100-meter final with a personal best time of 10.20 seconds. He finished runner-up to Justyn Warner, who won the race in 10.15. Warner's time marked his second legal-wind race under the Olympic "B" standard of 10.24, qualifying him for a trip over the pond.

"Ian has put a lot of work into being the best he could be," Iowa State head coach Corey Ihmels said. "He has gone about his work in a methodical way paying attention to detail with coach Nate Wiens all season.  Obviously, we are all thrilled that he will step on the track in the Olympic Games."

Warner, who will be a senior next year for the Iowa State track team, is a native of Markham, Ontario.
