DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa State tennis will open its fall campaign at the Drake Fall Invitational this weekend. The tournament will be held at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center with seven schools competing in singles and doubles action.

"The team is pretty excited to start the year and to start competing," head coach Armando Espinosa said. "This tournament will be great to get things going and help the girls get into some good competition."

Iowa State will send three upperclassmen to represent the Cyclones for the tournament. Seniors Ellie Nixon and Jenna Langhorst will join Emma Waites, a junior, for competition. Student-athletes from Drake, Creighton, Northern Illinois, South Dakota, Wichita State and Nebraska-Omaha are slated to participate.

"We have a great opportunity to go out and beat some good teams and hopefully take some draws," Espinosa said. "I know I'm excited. It's a new year, and it's always nice to see who will bring what to the table."
