DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa State duo Jenna Langhorst and Emma Waites chalked up one win and one loss at the Drake Fall Invitational this afternoon.

The pair began their flight against Nebraska-Omaha's freshman team of Jacqueline Baude and Rachel Pierson. The Cyclones were able to earn an 8-2 victory to advance in their bracket, but fell in the second round to Drake's Jordan Eggleston and Klavdija Rebol. The Bulldog pair ousted Iowa State 8-6.

"For the first time out, I felt pretty good," head coach Armando Espinosa said. "Having competition this early in the season is really good so we can learn where our focus should be as we get closer to the season."

In round robin singles, senior Ellie Nixon swept her UNO opponent, going 6-0, 6-0 in the first round.

"The girls rose to the occasion. For the first tournament of the season, I can't complain," Espinosa said.

Action at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center will resume tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Six flights of singles will kick off, and the tournament will wrap up Sunday afternoon.
