Cyclones Fall To Kansas, 78-75, In Overtime
LAWRENCE, Kan. - Allen Fieldhouse was again the site of a heartbreaking overtime Iowa State (14-5 overall, 5-4 Big 12) women's basketball loss to Kansas (13-6 overall, 4-4 Big 12) Wednesday. The Cyclones, who led by 18 points with under nine minutes left in the game, succumbed to the clutch play of Jayhawker Angel Goodrich, who finished the contest with 24 points as KU prevailed 78-75. The loss was Iowa State's third straight overtime defeat at Kansas.
Brynn Williamson had a career-high 19 points behind a career-best tying five 3-pointers, Hallie Christofferson had 18 points and Anna Prins had 16 points for the Cyclones. KU shot 62 percent from the field in the second half to drive its comeback. Chelsea Poppens had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Iowa State.
Iowa State, which shot 11-21 (.520) and made 10 of 10 shots at the free-throw line in the first half, led 34-25 at the break. The Cyclones outscored the Jayhawks 16-6 over the last 8:06 of the first half to offset 13 ISU turnovers before halftime.
Nikki Moody, who was in foul trouble for much of the second half, finished with eight points and seven assists before fouling out in overtime.
Iowa State plays host to Texas Tech in a White Out game that will start at 1 p.m. CST Saturday in Hilton Coliseum.
