Cyclones Set for Drake Relays
AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State track and field team is set to compete in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa Wednesday through Saturday. A select group of Cyclones will compete at the Kip Janvrin Open on Friday at Indianola, Iowa and Payton Jordan Classic in Palo Alto, Calif. on Sunday.
Competition for the 104th Drake Relays will begin Wednesday at noon CDT with the women’s Heptathlon. The men are scheduled to begin Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. with the Decathlon. The Pole Vault will be held inside Jordan Creek Mall starting at 6:00 p.m.
The Decathlon will continue Thursday starting at 9:30 a.m. with the Heptathlon beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Unseeded 800-meter run will kick of the other events starting at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Collegiate events will start Friday morning at 8:58 a.m. with the women’s 4x100-meter relay.
On Saturday collegiate events will begin at 8:20 a.m. with the preliminary round of the women’s shuttle hurdle relay. The final round of the women’s shuttle hurdle relay will kick off the afternoon session for collegiate events beginning at 12:50 p.m.
A select group of Cyclones will compete at the Kip Janvrin Invitational on Friday and the Payton Jordan Classic on Sunday. The Payton Jordan Classic will start at 5:20 p.m. CDT with the women’s 100-meter dash. The Kip Janvrin Invitational will start with the men's and women's 10,000-meter run at 2 p.m.
Results will be posted on cyclones.com at the conclusion of each day’s events.
