Hahn Named Big 12 Defensive POW, Again
Hahn was a crucial element to Iowa State’s two victories last week against Texas Tech and at Baylor.
Against the Red Raiders, a five-set victory for the Cyclones, Hahn led all players with 28 digs. She recorded eight of those digs in the fifth set of the match. She also chipped in three of ISU’s 15 service aces against TTU.
In Waco, Hahn put up one of the top defensive performances of her career as she recorded 26 digs in the Cyclones’ sweep of Baylor. Hahn recorded five digs in the first set before recording 10 digs in the second frame and 11 in the third.
Hahn finished the week with 54 digs at 6.75 per set. While it would come as no surprise that Hahn led the Big 12 in digs per set for the week again, it did come as a surprise that Iowa State setter Jenelle Hudson had the second-most digs per set of the week at 4.62 dps after recording a career-high 21 against Texas Tech and 16 at Baylor.
Hahn now has 44 career matches with at least 20 digs, tying Ashley Mass’ (2007-10) school record for most career 20+ dig matches. Hahn has already taken Mass’ school records for most career Big 12 weekly wards (Mass had 15), career 30+ dig matches (Mass had seven, Hahn currently has eight) and consecutive matches with at least 10 digs (Mass had 44 from 2007-08, Hahn’s streak is currently at 60 matches).
Iowa State has now won the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award 35 times since its inception in 2007. The next highest total is Kansas with 11.
Hahn and the Cyclones return to the court and Hilton Coliseum Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for a match against South Dakota. It is “$2 Tuesday” as tickets cost just two dollars, and select concession stand items (hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, pretzels and nachos) will also be just two dollars.
