No. 22/16 Cyclones Face Road Test at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The No. 22/16 Iowa State women's basketball team (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) is set to face the Cincinnati Bearcats (1-2, 0-0 American) in their first road test of the season on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.

Cyclone Headlines
- Thursday’s game against the Cincinnati Bearcats marks the 800th-career game in Bill Fenelly’s 26-year head coaching career. Fennelly boasts a 398-182 (.685) record at Iowa State and a 564-235 overall as a head coach. He is just two wins shy of reaching 400 wins with the Cyclones.
-Iowa State remained No. 22 in the Associated Press poll and No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches poll after an 88-72 win at home against South Dakota. This is the 12th-straight time Iowa State has been ranked in the AP or USA Today polls.
-Iowa State is 2-0 on the season after home wins against North Dakota and South Dakota. Iowa State is one of just five teams in the Big 12 who are still undefeated. The Big 12 boasts the best nonconference winning percentage in the country (.844) and fewest losses (27-5).
-Senior forward Hallie Christofferson is averaging a double-double after her first two games this season. Christofferson has racked up an average of 28.5 points and 11.5 boards, ranking first in the Big 12 in both categories.
-Iowa State currently has four players averaging double-figures with Christofferson (28.5), Moody (15.0), Brynn Williamson (10.0) and Kidd Blaskowsky (10.5). The Cyclones are one of just two schools in the Big 12 with four or more student-athletes averaging double figures.
-The Iowa State starting lineup consists of a senior, two juniors and two freshmen, with Jadda Buckley and Seanna Johnson joining last year’s returners in Nikki Moody, Christofferson and Williamson. Iowa State is one of just four Big 12 schools this season that have started at least one freshman and one of three schools to have multiple freshman in the starting lineup.
-Thursday’s game is the first meeting between the two squads, but it will be the second time Iowa State has entered Fifth Third Arena, formerly the Shoemaker Center. In 1999, Iowa State advanced to its first Elite Eight after the biggest win in program history, a 64-58 victory over Connecticut.
-The Bearcats enter Thursday’s contest averaging 19.3 turnovers to the Cyclones 9.0. Iowa State committed just one turnover in the second half against South Dakota and just seven overall.
-The Cyclones are averaging 86 points per game and outscoring opponents by an average of 22.5. Iowa State is shooting 44.7 percent from the field and holding opponents to just 38.9 percent from the field.
-With last week’s win, Iowa State has won 72-straight regular season nonconference games at Hilton Coliseum. The streak dates back to the 2003-04 season (Last loss: Washington (12/21/03)).

Last Time Out
- Iowa State topped South Dakota 88-72 for its 72nd-consecutive nonconference win at Hilton Coliseum, improving to 2-0 on the season.
- Hallie Christofferson and Nikki Moody put together 20-point efforts against the Coyotes. Christofferson recorded her second double-double performance with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Moody recorded her third-career 20-point game, with 20 points and seven assists.
- Brynn Williamson also had a top-notch performance going 6-of-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from long for 18 points. She also chipped in five boards and two blocks.

Scouting Cincinnati
- Cincinnati finished last season with a 12-18 overall record and a 4-12 BIG EAST conference record.
- The Bearcat bench has played an integral role this season with their leading scorer coming off the bench in each of their three contests this season. The UC bench has contributed at least 26 points during each game this season.
- With Alexis Durley leading the Bearcats in scoring with 18 points against Kent State, the Bearcats have had a different leading scorer in each game this season. Marley Hill (16) and Jeanise Randolph (15) led the team during the first two games of the season.
