Goldstein Earns Honor From Jewish Sports Review
AMES, Iowa- Former Iowa State midfielder Emily Goldstein was selected to the 2013 women’s soccer All-America team by the Jewish Sports Review for her efforts this past season.
During her senior season, Goldstein led the Cyclones with six goals scored and dished out four assists. She also led Iowa State in total points with 16. The senior finished her career fourth in the Iowa State record book with 50 points scored. Goldstein was the only player selected for the honor from the Big 12 conference.
Goldstein became just the eighth Cyclone to record a hat trick in a game against Oklahoma, on Oct. 13, when she tallied three goals in a 4-1 victory over the Sooners. Goldstein also helped secure a spot in the Big 12 tournament for the Cyclones when she scored a golden goal against Baylor, on Oct. 18, in overtime. Goldstein played an instrumental part in the Cyclones success this season, helping lead Iowa State to the Big 12 tournament for the first time since 2007.
In addition to being named first team All-American by the Jewish Sports Review, Goldstein also earned First-Team All-Conference honors from College Sports Madness and Second-Team All-Big 12 honors from the league’s coaches.
