Cyclones to Face North Dakota at Home
AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State tennis team (2-1, 0-0 Big 12) will take on North Dakota at home Friday at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center.
Last week, the Cyclones earned wins in the home opener over Southeast Missouri State, 6-0, and Omaha, 7-0. Head coach Armando Espinosa was impressed with the team’s performance against both opponents.
“I was pretty happy with everybody,” Espinosa said. “You can’t single one person out, I think everybody came out and took care of business. We were a little bit slow in the beginning in some matches, but I think after that we just rolled.”
North Dakota lost 7-0 to Minnesota on Sunday, making them 0-1 this season.
Espinosa hopes that the focus from the home opener carries over to this Friday’s match.
“I’m hoping that we have the same level of energy and the same level of focus as we did in the first two matches at home,” Espinosa said. “It’s kind of hard to bring that every time. If we can do that and we can make that a habit, then I think we’re going to get better every time.”
The match will start at 11 a.m.
