AMES, Iowa - The 2014 Iowa State softball season kicks off this weekend with the Cyclone Indoor Invitational at the Bergstrom Football Complex. Admission to the tournament is free, for more information about attending this weekend's games, please click here.

The Cyclones will play two games on both Saturday and Sunday. ISU will start off with a game Saturday at noon against Indiana State, followed by a 2:30 p.m. meeting with South Dakota State. Sunday action gets underway at 9:30 a.m. with Iowa State and South Dakota State and the Cyclones will close out their portion of the tournament at noon with a second meeting against Indiana State.

Indiana State and South Dakota State will play each other Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Live stats will be provided for all games. A new feature this season, a live blog will be hosted on during the Iowa State games.

Iowa State re-wrote many categories in its offensive record books in 2013, taking down school single-season records for batting average (.288), runs (284), home runs (40), RBIs (253), walks drawn (166) and stolen bases (101). Many of the faces who helped take down those records are back, including second-team All-Big 12 sophomore Brittany Gomez, who led ISU with a .361 batting average and a school record 31 stolen bases.

However, the ISU offense will look to replace two of the best in school history in Erica Miller, a three-time All-Big 12 selection and Iowa State's school record holder for career RBIs, and Tori Torrescano, ISU's all-time home run leader with 42.

The Cyclones will have a totally new look in the pitchers circle, as only Madison Jones' 13.1 innings of work from last season returns. The ISU rotation will be led by freshman Katie Johnson this weekend. The Sioux Falls, S.D. native led Sioux Falls Washington to back-to-back state championships and posted uner a 1.00 ERA in both seasons. She also hit over .700 as a senior in high school.

Another addition to the pitching staff making her ISU debut this weekend is junior Stacy Roggentien. A January transfer from Marshalltown CC, Roggentien is MCC's all-time leader in wins and strikeouts.

An important asset to the ISU pitching staff will also be Bowling Green transfer Paris Imholz. However, the junior will not take the field this weekend as she continues to recover from an injury. Imholz, a second-team All-Mid-American Conference selection in 2013, had a career ERA of 1.85 in her two years at BGSU.
