Iowa State Hosts Texas Saturday

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's basketball team (17-8, 6-8 Big 12) takes on Texas (17-9, 8-6 Big 12) on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.

Cyclone Headlines
- This is the 26th overall meeting between the Cyclones and Longhorns. Iowa State currently leads the series 14-11, with wins in six of the last eight meetings. The Cyclones are 8-2 all-time in Hilton Coliseum against the Longhorns.
-The Cyclones are one of the nation’s best free-throw shooting teams, connecting on 79.8 percent from the charity stripe, which ranks second nationally. In conference play, Hallie Christofferson (.887) and Jadda Buckley (.890) rank in the top-15 in the nation in free-throw shooting.
-Senior Hallie Christofferson was recently named one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. Iowa State is the only school in the country to have finalists for the award in back-to-back seasons, with Chelsea Poppens representing ISU last season.  
-Freshman Seanna Johnson continues to impress on the boards. Johnson is the fourth-leading rebounder in the Big 12 and one of just six freshman in the nation averaging 8.2 boards per game. Johnson is also the only 5-10 freshman in the country with 8.2 boards per game to her name.
-Iowa State is one of 11 schools in the country with two freshmen averaging double digits, with Jadda Buckley grabbing 10.6 points and Seanna Johnson with 10.3 points.
-Seanna Johnson and Hallie Christofferson nabbed Big 12 weekly honors for their performance against Kansas on Saturday in Iowa State’s Play 4Kay game. Johnson tallied 14 points and eight boards en route to her fourth Freshman of the Week Award, breaking the school record with seven Newcomer of the Week honors in a season (Jadda Buckley chipped in three). Christofferson picked up her second Player of the Week award this season with a 29-point performance, while grabbing eight rebounds.
-Christofferson is the fifth Cyclone to amass 1,600 points and 750 rebounds in a career (Angie Welle, Megan Taylor, Jayme Olson, Tonya Burns). She also ranks in the top-10 in Iowa State history in rebounds, field goals made (529) free-throw’s made (415), free-throw’s attempted (491), blocked shots (93) and free-throw percentage (.845).
-Iowa State’s 11-0 non-conference record marks just the third time in school history the Cyclones posted a perfect non-conference schedule. Since the 2005-06 season, only nine Big 12 squads have posted undefeated non-conference slates.
-The Cyclones’ 14-game winning streak to kick off the season is the longest in school history and also sets the school record for a program-best start (14-0).

Last Time Out
-Iowa State stumbled against No. 6 Baylor as the Cyclones were unable to keep the early momentum going. Iowa State shot 34 percent from the field and just 12 percent from beyond the arc. ISU fell at BU 89-51.
-Hallie Christofferson and Seanna Johnson let the Cyclones with Christofferson grabbing 10 points and a team-high six rebounds. Johnson led ISU in scoring with 12 points and tacked on four rebounds.

Series vs. Texas
-Iowa State leads the all-time series over the Longhorns 14-11. The Cyclones are 8-2 all-time in Hilton Coliseum. ISU has won six of the last eight against Texas, including three of the last four contests.
-In a meeting earlier this season, Iowa State stood strong against UT leading the Longhorns for over 37 minutes before falling 71-64.
