Iowa State is coming off its eighth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance in 2013. Head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch returns 10 student-athletes from last year’s squad, led by AVCA Honorable Mention All-American Mackenzie Bigbee.

Fans will also get a chance to see some new faces this weekend. Maria Fruechte and Samara West will be in action after redshirting in 2013. The spring season will also feature newcomers Monique Harris and Suzanne Horner. Harris, a freshman setter/defensive specialist from Clinton, Iowa, graduated from high school early and has enrolled at Iowa State and has been practicing with the Cyclones. Horner, a rising-sophomore transfer setter from Mississippi State, enrolled at Iowa State during the mid-term and has been practicing with the Cyclones.

After this weekend’s tournament, the Cyclones travel to Cedar Falls next weekend for a tournament hosted by UNI. On Thursday, Apr. 17, Iowa State will take on Creighton in a match at Carroll High School in Carroll, Iowa at 6:30 p.m. The spring season will wrap up on Saturday, Apr. 19 when the Cyclones host Nebraska at 2 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum. Admission to the match between ISU and the Cornhuskers will be free.
