AMES, Iowa – The Cyclones were busy during the week preparing for the 2014 NCAA Championships, May 20-23 at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

It’s an historic achievement for the Cyclones. Not only is it ISU’s first trip to the national finals, but it’s also the first-ever appearance by a women’s golf program in the state of Iowa at the national tournament since the regional format was introduced in 1993.

Iowa State, ranked 23rd nationally by Golfweek, punched its ticket by tying for sixth at the NCAA West Regional in Elum, Washington, May 8-10.

“It’s really exciting to finally say, ‘okay, we’ve done it,’” Iowa State head coach Christie Martens said. “Now we will see what the next step is once we get there. We will focus on having a good week of practice in order to be prepared.”

All 24 teams and six individuals (126 competitors) will play 72 holes of stroke play (18 holes each day). Tulsa Country Club will play as a par 70 at 6,194 yards. For more information on Tulsa Country Club, click here.

Iowa State’s lineup will feature four players ranked in the nation’s top-120 according to Golfweek. Senior Sasikarn On-iam, a two-time All-Big 12 selection, leads the Cyclones with a 73.61 stroke average and is ranked 81st nationally.

Fellow senior Prima Thammaraks is ranked 119th nationally and has a 74.14 scoring mark. Thammaraks led the Cyclones at the NCAA West Regional by tying for 17th.

Junior Chonlada Chayanun, who was named All-Big 12 First-Team along with On-iam, is second on the team in stroke average (73.79) and sophomore Cajsa Persson, who is rated No. 111 nationally, averages 74.14 strokes per round.

Freshman Carmen Vidau (77.21) will round out ISU’s lineup in Tulsa.
