2008-09
Concluded his junior Cyclone season with a 34-4 record ... recorded four major decisions and four pins ... sealed All-America honors for the second time with a fifth-place finish at heavyweight at the NCAA Championships ... beat Kent State's Jermail Porter in the placing-round 4-2, with a last-second takedown securing the victory ... advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Championships with three consecutive victories ... Big 12 Conference heavyweight titlist ... edged eventual NCAA champion Mark Ellis of Missouri for the second time by decision, 3-1, to take the league title ... beat Nebraska's Tucker Lane by decision, 4-2 (SV2) in the conference semifinals, after edging the Husker 3-1 in the dual season finale in Lincoln, Neb. ... took down Missouri's Ellis in Columbia, Mo. in overtime 3-1 (TB1) ... won three overtime matches in three consecutive home duals in Hilton ... edged Oklahoma's Nathan Fernandez, 4-2 (SV2), Oklahoma State's Jared Rosholt, 3-1 (SV1) and Christian Brantley of UNI, 3-3 (TB2) ... went 3-1 in dual competition at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa ... took third-place honors at the Midlands Championship after winning six consolation matches in a row ... scored two falls in Fargo, N.D., pinning Cody Jamtgaard of Dickinson State in 4:06 and Tyler Hemmesch of North Dakota State in 2:44 ... notched a sound decision of Iowa's Dan Erekson, 5-1, in Iowa City ... edged returning All-American Kyle Massey of Wisconsin on the road, 5-4 (SV) ... recorded his second Harold Nichols/Cyclone Open heavyweight title, scoring two pins in five straight victories.
