Hilton Coliseum | Men's Basketball

There’s no place quite like it in college basketball. When more than 14,000 loyal, screaming Cyclone basketball fans invade beautiful James H. Hilton Coliseum, it’s the biggest party in the Midwest. The place isn’t just loud, it’s deafening. And over the last two decades, Hilton Magic is responsible for one of college basketball’s biggest home court advantage.

James H. Hilton Coliseum is recognized as one of the finest facilities for collegiate basketball in the nation. Yearly, national college basketball writers and experts rave about the outstanding atmosphere.

“Hilton Magic” has never been more alive with the return of The Mayor. Iowa State is 32-3 in Hilton Coliseum the last two seasons, mounting one of its best winning streaks in school history at 22 games, including a 14-game conference homecourt victory string, the second-best streak of its kind in school history.

Since Hilton Coliseum opened its doors in the 1971-72 season, ISU has gone undefeated at home four times and suffered just one home loss on two occasions.

Hilton Coliseum offers newly refurbished dressing rooms for both the ISU women’s and men’s teams. It also houses “Johnny’s,” a donor-gathering area in honor of former head coach Johnny Orr, and the Pete Taylor Media Room, a state-of-the-art work area for the press in honor of the former Voice of the Cyclones, Pete Taylor.

ISU home attendance marks in men’s basketball have consistently ranked in the top-30 nationally in the last two decades. Eleven times since 1985 ISU has averaged over 13,000 fans per game for a season, including the last two seasons.

ISU has sold out Hilton Coliseum 11 times the last two years.

Hilton Coliseum is truly the Hot Spot in Iowa in the winter!
