AMES, Iowa Iowa State's Athletics Department received a green light from the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, in June of 2007 to proceed with a $19.5 million renovation to Jack Trice Stadium. The plan, which includes 24 new suites on the west side of the stadium and a renovation and expansion of existing club seats on the east side of the facility, received unanimous support from the Regents. The final approval came after Iowa State shared an updated project description and financial plan to the Regents. That renovation will be the first of a two-part renovation to Jack Trice Stadium. In addition, the athletics program will also continue its fundraising efforts to build a basketball and volleyball practice facility and renovate Hilton Coliseum.
The first phase of the stadium project will begin immediately following the completion of the 2007 season and will be finished by the start of the 2008 campaign.

Jack Trice Stadium - Phase I The first part of the renovation to Jack Trice Stadium includes creation of 22 new suites and the expansion of two existing suites on the west side of the stadium including the installation of operable windows in all of the current suites widening the west side concourse and increasing the number of restrooms and concession stands, creating new and improved disabled seating sections on the west side and completely overhauling the club section on the east side. Funding of the project will come completely from the sale of stadium suites, club seats, increased ticket revenues and fundraising.
Jack Trice Stadium Part II The second part of the renovation to Jack Trice Stadium will include enclosing the south end zone and connecting the east side concourse to the west side concourse, widening the east side concourse, creating additional disabled seating and increasing the number of restrooms and concession stands on the east and south sides of the stadium. The cost and timeframe for completing the second part of the stadium renovation have not yet been determined.
The first part of the renovation to Hilton Coliseum will be the construction of a practice facility for men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball with coaching and support unit areas for those sports. In addition, the new practice facility will include a large gathering space for pre- and post-game donor functions as well as other banquets and meetings throughout the year. The new practice facility also includes improvements to Center Drive to assist in safer pedestrian traffic for events at the Iowa State Center. The estimated cost of the new practice facility is $35 million. The completion of this project is contingent on the athletics department raising the necessary private funding. |
Hilton Coliseum Part II The second part of the Hilton renovation includes improvements to the mechanical and utility systems within the coliseum, widening the north and south concourses to improve patron flow during events, the creation of new and improved concession and merchandise stands and the installation of additional seats in the lower bowl and suites in the upper bowl. The estimated cost of the renovation to Hilton Coliseum is $25 million. The timeframe for completing the second part of the renovation to Hilton Coliseum has not yet been determined.
