A two-time all-state selection whose dominating performance in the 2007 state tournament led his team to its first state title since 1944 and a 24-3 record...was a 2007 first-team Class 3A selection by both the INA and Des Moines Register...earned Iowa’s Mr. Basketball Award as the state’s top prep the first Mr. Basketball winner from the state to sign with the Cyclones since Fred Hoiberg in 1991...named captain of the Class 3A state tournament team, helping his squad win all three state tournament games by an average of 20.7 ppg, including a 74-51 triumph over Sioux City Heelan in the Class 3A title contest...tallied 18 points and 14 boards in the game...averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds in the three state tournament games...averaged 19.1 points and 11.9 rebounds his senior season...was a first-team all-state selection as a junior, averaging 16.3 points and 9.1 rebounds, leading his conference (Northeast Iowa) on the finished 14-11 and qualified for the state tournament...averaged 12.3 points and 7.2 rebounds as a sophomore for a team that finished 17-7...originally signed with Indiana State, but was released after a coaching change...also received interest from Iowa, Purdue and Nevada...coached in high school by Tom Bardal, a former ISU assistant coach (1997-98).

Born September 5, 1988 in Waverly, Iowa...son of Brett and Robin Vette...elementary education, Ryan, is a member of the Southwest Minnesota State football team.
