Harlan and Omaha Tailgate Tour Photos and Multimedia
OMAHA, Neb. - Members of the Iowa State athletics department, Paul Rhoads, Bill Fennelly, Kevin Jackson, Fred Hoiberg and Jamie Pollard began the final leg of the Tailgate Tour Monday with stops to Harlan, Iowa and Omaha, Neb.
At the Harlan Country Club for lunch, former ISU men’s basketball player Julius Michalik made a visit to see Hoiberg, his former roommate in Ames. Michalik’s visit created a room with the No. 3 (Hoiberg) and No. 6 (Michalik) all-time career point scorers in men’s hoops history.
The Tailgate Tour made the short trip west to Omaha after Harlan. The first stop in Omaha saw the Iowa Staters pay a visit to Kenworth Trucking. Highlighting the stop were generous gifts given to Rhoads and Fennelly from long-time ISU supporters Rod and Connie French for the Iowa Children's Miracle Network.
The evening concluded with a visit to the Henry Doory Zoo in Omaha. A large, enthusiastic Cyclone crowd greeted the ISU contingent’s arrival. The crowd was treated to entertainment from ISU student-athletes and interviews featuring Rhoads, Fennelly, Jackson, Hoiberg and Pollard.
Dana O'Neil, a college basketball writer from ESPN.com, rode on the bus with Hoiberg and the Iowa State travel party. Stay tuned to ESPN.com for her story this week.
