Cyclones Start Fall Season at Drake Invitational
DES MOINES, Iowa- Iowa State tennis will open its fall season at this weekend’s Drake Fall Invitational. The tournament is scheduled to take place Friday through Sunday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center with singles and doubles play.
“We’ll take four of our returnees,” Iowa State head coach Armando Espinosa said. “They’ve experienced college tennis before and this weekend will allow them to get back into the swing of things. They are ready to compete this weekend.”
The Cyclones will be represented this weekend by four returning members. Sophomore Ana Gasparovic will join juniors Meghan Cassens, Caroline Andersen and Ksenia Pronina to kick off the fall season in Des Moines.
“We are excited to get things started,” Espinosa said. “I think the fact that we’ll be able to see a couple doubles combinations early is going to help us.”
Among the competition for the Cyclones will be players from Creighton, Drake, Omaha, North Dakota, Northern Colorado and UNI.
Friday’s competition will begin at 11 a.m. with two rounds of doubles and a round of singles being played on the first day.
