Cyclones Notch Multiple Top-5 Finishes at Husker Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Iowa State men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, capturing two event titles and setting several personal records.

Christina Hillman continued her dominant 2014 campaign with another victory in the shot put. The two-time All-American hurled a best throw of 56 feet, 3.75 inches en route to her fourth victory of the season.

A pair of Cyclones notched top-5 finishes in the women’s mile in Samantha Bluske (2nd) and Maggie Gannon (3rd). Bluske crossed the line in 4:46.61 with Gannon on her heels in 4:49.83. Both marks are personal bests for the Cyclone duo.

In her season debut, Cyclone junior Katy Moen raced to a runner-up finish in the women’s 3,000-meter run. Moen was the collegiate champion, crossing the line in 9:41.03. The mark is a personal record for Moen by over 4 seconds.

In the men’s triple jump, Kevin Poster leapt to his indoor-best mark, jumping 48-04.50. Poster finished sixth overall after posting the mark on his fifth attempt.

Kelly McCoy captured the individual title in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 7 inches.

High Jump: 1) Xaivier McAllister, Iowa Central, 7-00.25; 4) Cameron Ostrowski, Iowa State, 6-10.75
