Cyclones Top Wayne State in Exhibition Opener

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women’s basketball team topped Wayne State College 76-52 in front of a crowd of 10,036 fans at Hilton Coliseum. Senior Hallie Christofferson led Iowa State with a double-double with 24 points and 10 boards.

Turning Point of the Game
The Cyclones started off hot, going up 6-0 just 1:30 into the game. Christofferson scored the first three points for the Cyclones, and sophomore guard Nikki Moody drained a three to close the 6-0 run. The Cyclones would never surrender the lead in the game and would go up by as much as 24 points in the second half, holding a double-digit lead throughout most of the game.

Game Ball Goes To...
Hallie Christofferson. Christofferson was the go-to player throughout much of the game, scoring most of her 24 points in the paint. Christofferson also racked up 10 rebounds for a double-double. She also tacked on two assists, blocks and steals.

*Freshmen Jadda Buckley and Seanna Johnson both made starts for the Cyclones.
*Iowa State extended its streak of exhibition wins to 29 after this afternoon’s 76-52 victory over Wayne State.

*Moody recorded a game-high nine assists, while chipping in five points, a pair of blocks and a steal.

Iowa State hosts Carthage on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in its final exhibition game. The Cyclones will officially open the season on Sunday, Nov. 10 against North Dakota.
