MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State (20-9, 10-6 Big 12) had four players in double figures in an 80-73 win over No. 15 Iowa State (22-6, 10-6 Big 12) Saturday night in Bramlage Coliseum.

With the game tied at 69-all and just under two minutes remaining, the Wildcats sealed their win by outscoring ISU 11-4 the rest of the way.

Melvin Ejim and DeAndre Kane combined for 54 of ISU’s 73 points, as Ejim recorded 30 and Kane had 24. Ejim also had 16 rebounds en route to his 31st career double-double.

Kansas State caught fire early while taking a 33-21 lead. Shane Southwell made his first four shots from downtown to jumpstart the Wildcats.

Iowa State remained in the game behind the play of Ejim and Kane, who each had 14 points at the half. The pair both drained 3-pointers in the final four minutes of the opening period to help ISU close out the half on a 13-6 run to cut the KSU lead to 39-34 at the break.

ISU began chipping away in the second half, taking its first lead when Ejim drained a 3-pointer with 9:33 remaining the contest. Kane hit a trey minutes later to make it 62-60.

Moments later, Ejim picked up his fourth foul and went to the bench. ISU struggled without its leader, going six minutes without a field goal. KSU started to regain control and took a 68-63 lead with 3:54 remaining when Marcus Foster buried a long trey.

ISU tied it at 69-69 with 1:54 to play on a Monte Morris 3-pointer, but KSU rattled off seven-straight points in 0:26 seconds, including a key 3-pointer by Will Spradling to answer Morris’ trey.

Keys to the Game
Free-Throw Shooting. In a tight game, many times the difference in the game comes down to free-throw shooting. Unfortunately for the Cyclones, they did not convert and the Wildcats did. ISU was 20-of-30 at the free-throw line, while KSU made 23-of-its-29 freebies.
