AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior punter Kirby Van Der Kamp was named to the 2013 Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team, announced today by the league office.

A senior from West Des Moines, Iowa, Van Der Kamp is considered one of the top returning punters in the nation. He’s been named to multiple preseason All-America teams and was recently added to the 2013 Ray Guy Award Watch List, an award given annually to the nation’s best punter. Van Der Kamp was a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award in 2012.

Van Der Kamp’s lethal leg has been a valuable weapon throughout his outstanding career with the Cyclones. As a freshman in 2010, Van Der Kamp averaged 45.2 yards per punt, the second-best season average in school history en route to first-team freshman All-America honors.

His career 42.8 ypp average is the second-best total in school history and he’s dropped a punt inside the opponents’ 20-yard line 72 times in his career.

Van Der Kamp has earned All-Big 12 recognition in all three of his seasons at ISU, including second team accolades a year ago.
