AMES, Iowa - James White ran an option play from four yards out for a touchdown in the third overtime period to give Iowa State an unbelievable 44-41 win over Iowa Saturday afternoon in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series showdown in Jack Trice Stadium. .

Iowa State came from behind on three different occasions in the fourth quarter and overtime periods, as the crowd of 56,085, the second-largest contingent in Jack Trice Stadium history, rejoiced at mid-field while regaining the Cy-Hawk Trophy.

Both teams traded touchdowns in the first two overtimes. Iowa State tallied a TD on a Darius Reynolds four-yard touchdown catch on 4th-and-goal in the first extra period. White scored on a touchdown run in the second overtime session.

The Cyclone defense broke the touchdown string in the third overtime, forcing Iowa to kick a 34-yarder from Mike Meyer. The White touchdown run on third down was the decisive score.
