Goldstein Earns All-Conference Honors
AMES, Iowa- Senior midfielder Emily Goldstein earned second team All-Big 12 honors the league announced Monday. Goldstein had also been named to the All-Big 12 newcomer team in 2010.
Goldstein earned the honors after a season full of highlights for the Cyclones. The senior leads the team with six goals this season and is third on the team with three assists. Goldstein biggest game of the season came against Oklahoma on Oct. 13 when she became just the eighth Cyclone in school history to record a hat trick in a game. Goldstein’s three goals helped the Cyclones earn a 4-1 victory over the Sooners. Goldstein was named the Big 12 Player of the Week by College Sports Madness for her performance.
The following game against Baylor Goldstein came up clutch for the Cyclones scoring a golden goal with 23 seconds remaining in overtime to give Iowa State a 1-0 victory over the Bears. The win clinched a spot in the Big 12 tournament and gave the Cyclones plenty of momentum for the rest of the season.
Goldstein’s stellar play helped Iowa State earn a four seed at the Big 12 tournament and their first appearance in the tournament since 2007. The Cyclones play the fifth-seeded Bears Wednesday at 11:30 in Kansas City, Mo.
