Cyclones Prepare For Big 12 Championships
AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State gymnastics team (4-10 overall, 1-1 Big 12) will compete in the 2014 Big 12 Championships on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W. Va. The Cyclones will not only be competing for positioning in the Big 12, but also fighting for a spot in the NCAA Regionals.
Iowa State is currently one of eight squads fighting for one of the last three spots remaining at Regionals. Only the top-36 teams ranked by their regional qualifying score (RQS) can make it to Regionals.
The Cyclones can assure themselves a bid with a meet score of 196.025 or better at the Big 12 Championships. That score would match their previous season-high set on Feb. 7 against West Virginia.
Iowa State touts three gymnasts who received All-Big 12 Championship team honors at the 2013 Championships. Milan Ivory (vault-9.875), Camille Santerre-Gervais (bars-9.900) and Caitlin Brown (beam-9.875) all finished in the top three of their respective events to earn the championship team honors.
The Cyclones will also be searching for their first individual conference title since Celine Paulus took home the 2012 Big 12 title on vault with a score of 9.950.
