Donor Profile: Monte and Katherine Gibbs
AMES, Iowa - Monte and Katherine Gibbs are well known in the Ames community and many people are familiar with Gibbs Plumbing. The Gibbs are long time fans of Iowa State Athletics and are season ticket holders for football, men's basketball and women's basketball.
The Gibbs believe education is extremely important, not only to the one receiving it, but to the community and nation as well. For this reason, the Gibbs donate to Iowa State University through the Cyclone Club and continue to renew season tickets.
"It's a good investment for everyone," said Katherine Gibbs.
For years, Monte and Katherine have attended football and basketball games, whether in Ames or at other locations requiring a bit more travel.
"The peak of our Cyclone experiences came in 2000 when we traveled to Kemper Arena in Kansas City," said Katherine Gibbs. It was there the Gibbs watched both the men's and women's teams compete in the Big 12 basketball tournaments and walk away with championship trophies.
Part of what draws the Gibbs to Iowa State Athletics is the event atmosphere. They love the energy and spirit of the ISU students, as well as the camaraderie of the other fans who share their love of Cyclone sports.
"When you hear the announcer say 'Cyclone Nation,' you feel like you're part of a big group of enthusiastic people," said Katherine Gibbs.
As members of the Cyclone Club, Monte and Katherine Gibbs are two of many who comprise Iowa State's most important athletics support organization. Donations to the Cyclone Club fund student-athlete scholarships and are the backbone of funding the future of Iowa State's athletic program.
