AMES, Iowa – Cyclone fans will have one more chance to watch seniors Erica Miller and Tori Torrescano in action this weekend when Iowa State (21-31, 4-11 Big 12) finishes its 2013 season at home against the Kansas Jayhawks (31-16, 6-8 Big 12). The seniors, who hold more Iowa State single-season and career records than any other pair of players in Iowa State history, will be honored before Sunday’s game.

The most dynamic duo Iowa State has ever seen, Miller and Torrescano hold a combined six school records entering the final weekend of their careers and are ranked among the top-10 in Cyclone history in 11 categories.

This season, Miller leads Iowa State with .366 hitting, 12 doubles and a record 51 RBI. Torrescano is one home run away from tying her 2012 record of 14 long balls in a season and has walked a record 29 times, the record-breaking walk coming at Drake on Tuesday. Torrescano also leads the club with a .650 slugging mark.

The California natives will look to close out their careers in style with a sweep of Kansas, which would put the Cyclones in position for a fourth-place finish in the Big 12 if No. 1 Oklahoma wins two of their three weekend games against Oklahoma State.

Beating the Jayhawks will not be easy as Kansas is coming off a 2-0 shutout over the top-ranked Sooners in Lawrence last weekend. Freshman Alex Hugo is hitting .349 for the Jayhawks in league play and Maddie Stein is tops on the club with 11 RBI. Kelsey Kessler (4-3) threw all seven innings in the win over OU, allowing seven hits and walking two while not allowing a run against her.

The Cyclones are planning plenty of fun for the whole family throughout the weekend. On Friday, there will be free face painting from 3:30-4:40 p.m. CDT. Saturday is Fan Appreciation Day, and the first 100 fans into the park will receive foam fingers; prizes will also be awarded throughout the day’s contest. On Sunday, the Cyclones will celebrate Mother’s Day with flowers given to the first 50 moms through the gates. After the game on Sunday, kids can run the bases and the Cyclones will sign autographs for the final time.

Friday’s series opener between the Cyclones and Jayhawks is set for a 4 p.m. CDT first pitch at the Cyclone Sports Complex. MC22 will air each of the weekend’s games on tape-delay, May 14-16, with each day’s broadcast beginning at 11 a.m.
