Golfers 11th at Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. - The Iowa State men’s golf team is back in action for the spring season at the Desert Intercollegiate this weekend. The Cyclones are currently tied for 11th in the field of 23 after shooting a first-round 291 this afternoon.

Colorado is in first place at 272 after the first round.

Junior All-American Scott Fernandez led the way for the Cyclones. He posted a 1-under 71 and is currently tied for 23rd in the medalist race.

Freshman Ruben Sondjaja and junior Sam Daley worked their way around the course today for a pair of even-par 72s. The Aussie duo is tied for 33rd after round one.

Play will continue tomorrow with round two and will be followed by a third and final round on Sunday.
