Kuhrt Leads Cyclones in Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team continued to impress in its spring competition, this time at the UNI Spring Play-Day. The Cyclones partook in matches against Omaha, Iowa, Minnesota and the Iowa Ice of the Premier Volleyball League.

The star of the day was Morgan Kuhrt, the rising redshirt sophomore from Waverly, only 15 miles from Cedar Falls. Kuhrt was dominant on offense, posting 24 kills across all four matches at a .512 hitting percentage. Mackenzie Bigbee was also efficent for the Cyclones, earning her 18 kills on the day at a .361 hitting percentage. Victoria Hurtt had 19 kills on the day.

Iowa State again demonstrated its talent as a serving team, as Caitlin Nolan led the way with six service aces. Ciara Capezio and Monique Harris both chipped in two aces.

The Cyclones continue their spring season Thursday evening with a match against Creighton at Carroll High School in Carroll, Iowa. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m.

ISU will play at Hilton Coliseum against Nebraska, next Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission to the match against the Cornhuskters will be free.
