Cylones, Daley third at Big 12 Championship
TRINITY, Texas- The Iowa State men’s golf team is in third place with one round to play at the 2014 Big 12 Championship. ISU’s best finish at the Big 12 Championships was in 1997 when the finished third. The Cyclones lead No.2 Oklahoma State and No. 13. Oklahoma. Texas Tech paces the field with a 54-hole tally of 866 (286-291-289).
TCU’s Julien Brun fired a six under 66 this afternoon to climb into the lead of the medalist race at 211 (74-71-66).
Junior Sam Daley also found himself in red figures today. He fired a three under 69 in round three to bring his tournament total to 215 (72-74-69). Daley is in the hunt for an individual title this weekend as he is currently tied for third and only four strokes off the lead.
Freshman Ruben Sondjaja fired a two under 70 today to bring his 54-hole mark to 223 (76-77-70). The Aussie is tied for 19th with one round left to play.
All-American Scott Fernandez continued to climb the leaderboard in the third round, carding a one over 73. Fernandez sits in a tie for 23rd individually (77-74-73=224).
The Big 12 Championship will conclude tomorrow at Whispering Pines with a final round of 18-holes.
