16 Cyclones Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors
AMES, Iowa- The Big 12 Conference announced its Academic All-Big 12 Swimming and Diving team Tuesday. Iowa State was represented with a conference-high 16 honorees named first team recipients.
Iowa State seniors Brianna Carlberg, Marley Dobyns, Dani Harris, Sarah Norris and Tiana Wollin all earned the honor for the third time and Marley Suckow earned her second Academic All-Big 12 honor.
Junior Alex Gustafson was elevated to the first team after earning second team honors last season. Katie Vollhaber and Imelda Wistey made their Academic All-Big 12 debut, along with sophomores Megan Cohea, Dani Davis, Sarah Deis, Elizabeth Kleiner, Kristy Kunkel, Bre Loeschke and Ali Stearns.
To be eligible for the first team, a student-athlete must have achieved a 3.20 GPA cumulative or for the pat two semesters. Qualifications for the second team honors include a 3.0 GPA either cumulative or for the past two semesters. A student-athlete must also compete in 60 percent of the team’s contests to be eligible for either first-or second-team Academic All-Big 12 honors.
