Okoro, Moen Rise On All-Time Lists At Payton Jordan
STANFORD, Calif. – The Cyclones saw six women post sub-4 minute, 30 second marks in the 1,500-meter run at the Payton Jordan Invitational, along with strong performances from Ejiro Okoro and Edward Kemboi in the women’s and men’s 800-meter run.
Five out of six women competing in the 1,500m posted personal records. Maggie Gannon was the Cyclones’ top overall finisher, crossing the line in 4:22.51. Gannon was just 0.35 seconds off of her personal best in the event, which is sixth in program history at 4:22.16. Katy Moen clocked a PR of 4:22.66, which is good for the eighth fastest mark on the all-time list. Crystal Nelson (4:23.40), Samantha Bluske (4:24.55), Perez Rotich (4:25.77) and Bethanie Brown (4:28.03) also notched personal bests in the event.
Ejiro Okoro moved her name up a notch on the all-time top-10 list in the 800-meter run. Okoro clocked a time of 2:04.49 and setting an outdoor best on the evening. The Birmingham, U.K., native now ranks fourth in Iowa State history.
In the men’s 800m, Edward Kemboi posted a mark of 1:48.47, placing second in his heat. Kemboi finished 9 tenths of a second behind Brooks Beasts’ Casmir Loxsom.
