AMES, Iowa - The No. 24 Iowa State gymnastics team learned it will compete at the Salt Lake City Regional on April 7 at 7 p.m. CDT.  The Cyclones will face No. 5 Nebraska, No. 8 Utah, No. 17 Minnesota, Arizona State and San Jose State in the John M. Huntsman Center the NCAA announced today.

Iowa State will compete in one of the most tradition-rich venues in NCAA women's gymnastics.  Utah averaged an NCAA-record 14,352 fans at its home competitions in 2012, but it is not a foreign venue to many of the Cyclones.

The Cyclones competed at Utah on Jan. 15, 2010 and registered a solid 195.350 team score.  Current Cyclones Michelle Browning, Celine Paulus and Elizabeth Stranahan have performed at the John M. Huntsman Center during their collegiate careers.

Iowa State will be amongst familiar company at the competition. The Cyclones have faced both Minnesota and Nebraska twice this season. Iowa State went 1-1 against Minnesota and nearly upset Nebraska in its regular-season finale after leading with one rotation remaining.

The Cyclones' event rotation at the regional competition is: vault, bye, bars, beam, bye, floor.

The Cyclones will need to finish in the top two at the regional competition to advance to the NCAA Championship.
