Iowa State Falls to No. 31 Oklahoma State, 6-1
AMES, Iowa - Despite several close matches, Iowa State (7-12, 0-6 Big 12) dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 31 Oklahoma State (12-5, 4-2 Big 12) in a Big 12 matchup Sunday morning.
In doubles play Iowa State nearly pulled out the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 but both duos eventually lost by final scores of 8-6.
In singles play the No. 1 and No. 2 spots were just as competitive. The Cyclones No. 1 singles player Simona Cacciuttolo took nationally-ranked Malika Rose, who is No. 60, to a third set before falling to the Cowgirls top player, falling in her upset bid, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Ksenia Pronina captured the only team point for Iowa State in a three-set match against Meghan Blevins at No. 2. Pronina lost the initial set 6-2. Pronina then went on to win sets 2 and 3 with a score of 6-3.
Iowa State will play again next Sunday against West Virginia at 8:30 a.m. The match will be the final home dual for the Cyclones.
