AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State gymnastics team (5-11, 2-2 Big 12) has qualified for an appearance in the NCAA Regionals for the 18th-straight year. The Cyclones heard their names called when the Baton Rouge Regional was announced, where they will compete on April 5 in Baton Rouge, La. The meet will start at 4 p.m.

The Cyclones are coming off their best meet of the season at Big 12 Championships, where they scored a 196.650 to take second place.

“It's great to be peaking at the right time," head coach Jay Ronayne said. "It's all about what you do at championships. You need to turn it on at championship time and do your best gymnastics in March and April.”

The Cyclones are one of six teams that will be competing in Baton Rouge, along with No. 10 Stanford, Auburn, Arizona, Kent State and No. 3 LSU, the host school. The season-high score of 196.650 at the Big 12 Championships on Saturday was key in assuring Iowa State a bid in the field of the top 36 teams in the country, ranked according to regional qualifying scores (RQS).

"The biggest challenge is to do our job and hit routines and let the chips fall where they may," Ronayne said. "LSU is really a great atmosphere for college gymnastics so we're excited."

Iowa State will go into Regionals with a wealth of momentum coming off their highest meet score  (196.650) since a 196.700 in a win over Iowa in 2007. The Big 12 Championships also saw individual success for the Cyclones, who place four gymnasts on the All-Big 12 Championship Team. The highlight of the weekend was a conference title on uneven bars for senior Camille Santerre-Gervais, who put up a 9.95 for the third time this season. Santerre-Gervais was also named the Big 12 Event Specialist of the Year following the meet.

Joining Santerre-Gervais on the All-Big 12 Championship Team were Cyclones Caitlin Brown, Henrietta Green and Milan Ivory. Brown earned the honors for her second-place finish in the all-around competition with a career-high score of 39.350. Brown showed the consistency that she has put on display all year, scoring a 9.8 or higher on all four events, including three scores of 9.850. The Apple Valley, Minn. native’s vault score of 9.85 matched a career high.

Ivory and Green earned the honors with matching scores of 9.9 on floor exercise in the Cyclones’ final two rotations on floor. The senior duo led the way as the Cyclones’ put up their highest score of the season on floor with a 49.250. Green’s score matched a career-high previously set on March 7 against Iowa.

The Cyclones will be back in action when they travel to Baton Rouge, La. for NCAA Regionals on Saturday, April 5.
