ISU To Face Indiana At Liz Murphey Match Play
ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 19 Iowa State women’s golf team tied for 11th in round one of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic with a team score of 308. The field in Athens consists of six of the nation’s top-30 teams, including three top-10 squads.
Northwestern posted a 277 tally to take home the stroke play championship this afternoon.
In anticipation of the changed format of the 2015 NCAA Championships, the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic is a match play event. The 16 teams competed in stroke play today to determine seeds for the match play portion of the event set to take place on Saturday and Sunday.
All-Big 12 performer Cajsa Persson paced Iowa State this afternoon with a 3-over 75 to tie for 22nd in the stroke play competition.
Sasikarn On-iam, who recently earned Big 12 Golfer of the Month honors for March, and Prima Thammaraks both shot 76 today to tie for 30th.
As the No. 4 seed in the Black Bracket, Iowa State will compete against Texas A&M, Michigan State, Georgia, Indiana, Troy, Daytona State and Georgetown in the match play competition.
Iowa State faces Indiana tomorrow morning. The winner will square off against the winner of the Michigan State/Georgetown match in the afternoon.
