Cyclones Place Second At Mountain View Collegiate
TUCSON, Ariz. - The Iowa State women's golf team had an outstanding weekend, finishing second at the 15-team Mountain View Collegiate this afternoon. The Cyclones moved up one spot to second after carding a 284 this afternoon for a three-round 865 total, the second-best 54-hole score in school history. ISU's final-round 284 ties for the third-lowest 18-hole score in the school record book.
Texas Tech won the team title at 858.
The Iowa State contingent all shot 74 or lower this afternoon, led by Kristin Paulson's 69, her second sub-70 round of her career. Prima Thammaraks and Punpaka Phuntumabamrung led the Cyclones, tying for ninth at 216. It was the sixth career top-10 performance for both players, as Phuntumabamrung notched her best 54-hole score of her career.
Paulson's 69 propelled her into a tie for 13th place at 218 (77-72-69). Sasikarn On-iam tied for 18th at 219.
The Cyclones will be back in action on April 21 at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
